Je suis très fier d’annoncer la sélection du vidéoclip The Forest dans le volet Panorama Canadien du Festival international d’animation d’Ottawa.

Le clip réalisé pour le groupe rock The SerVant met en image l’univers cinématographique de la chanson donnant vie à un bestiaire fantastique à l’aide de la célèbre technique de l’animation de silhouettes.

« Depending on who you ask, Thanatomorphose will either « fascinate, aggravate, and impress, » or it’s « all grue, little substance. » No one will tell you that this 2012 Canadian body horror flick is something that you should watch on a full stomach. Even the film’s detractors say that it « ought to challenge even the most robust of gore fans when it comes to some of its nastiest moments. » 

For most of the film, it’s a one-woman show, as Kayden Rose plays Laura, a woman with a decaying personal life whose body abruptly begins to decay as well after a night of particularly rough intercourse. The bruises that she finds the next morning don’t fade. Instead, they spread and eventually become something much worse. While Rose may be the star, the « special effects are the true stomach-churning winner of the day, » according to Dread Central. »

« Thanatomorphose est une œuvre exigeante qui n’est pas à la portée de tous. En plus d’être assez graphique, le rythme est lent et l’atmosphère est anxiogène. Ainsi, l’entièreté du long métrage se déroule dans l’appartement de Laura (Kayden Rose). À aucun moment notre regard se porte à l’extérieur. Même les rares fenêtres de l’endroit sont masquées ou hors-champ. La dépression dans laquelle s’enfonce la jeune femme est donc fortement ressentie par le spectateur (ce qui en fait un film difficile à voir, surtout en période de post-confinement). »
